Restaurant Calculator is a calculator for running a restaurant. It doesn't have accounts, ads or tracking, and it doesn't collect personal information. It counts which features get used, anonymously, so we know what to improve.
What stays on your device
Everything you enter stays on your iPhone, iPad or Mac:
- Calculations and history.
- Tool inputs.
- Your staff list and menu items.
- Your settings.
We can't see this data. It's included in your device backups, and deleting the app deletes it.
What the app downloads
- Exchange rates from ExchangeRate-API (open.er-api.com), for the Currency tab.
- Tax and pay rules from our public rules file on GitHub (raw.githubusercontent.com), so rates stay current without an app update.
These requests don't include anything you've entered. Like any web request, they're seen by those services along with your device's IP address, under their own privacy policies.
Anonymous usage counts
The app tells us which tabs, tools and buttons get used, through TelemetryDeck, a privacy-first analytics service in the European Union. For example: "the Service charge tool was opened" or "a spreadsheet was exported", with the app version, the device model, the country chosen in the app and the calculator look.
It never sends what you type, any amounts, your history, staff or menu items. Each device is counted by a random code that TelemetryDeck stores only as a one-way hash, so it can't be traced back to you, and it isn't used to track you across other apps or websites.
You can turn this off in Settings, under Share anonymous usage.
Purchases
The yearly subscription is sold and managed by Apple. We never see your payment details. The app only receives confirmation from Apple that the subscription is active.
This website
This website has no cookies or tracking scripts. It's hosted on Vercel, which keeps standard server logs, such as IP addresses, to run the service. We use Vercel Web Analytics to count visits by page, referring site and country. It sets no cookies and doesn't identify visitors; it works from a daily-changing hash that can't follow you between days or sites.
Your country choice on this site is kept in your browser so pages show your prices. It isn't sent to us.
The Spreadsheet Kit is bundled inside the app. Opening or saving a sheet sends nothing to us.
Children
Restaurant Calculator isn't directed at children and doesn't knowingly collect information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
